After Jay-Z was honored with a Georgetown University sociology course named after him, wife and new mom Beyonce has become the subject of a university course of her own. Rutgers University's Department of Women's and Gender Studies now offers the course 'Politicizing Beyonce,' which examines the social and cultural significance of the superstar's music and image.

Rutgers PH.D. candidate Kevin Allred teaches the course and explained on the school's website, "This isn't a course about Beyonce's political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama's inauguration weekend. She certainly pushes boundaries. While other artists are simply releasing music, she's creating a grand narrative around her life, her career, and her persona."

Allred continued, "It's important to shift students away from simply being consumers of media toward thinking more critically about what they're engaging on a regular basis."

The course description reveals that students will explore the 'Run the World (Girls)' singer's alter ego Sasha Fierce, the extent of her control over her own aesthetic and whether her racy image is a demonstration of female sexual empowerment or complicit with gender stereotypes.

While the course is named for Queen B, she is not the only famous female singer being discussed in the class. Lady Gaga and icons Billie Holiday and Nina Simone will also be examined.

It looks like Beyonce will be the next star to be immortalized in her hometown of Houston. It’s said that a monument and mini museum for the new mother is already in the works. Will fans of Bey flock to Texas to see all the memorabilia? We’ll have to wait until September 4, which happens to be Beyonce’s birthday, when the monument is scheduled to open.

Jessica Alba thinks that Beyonce Knowles should sell the first photos of her newborn daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Alba told CNN, “For our family, we just wanted to control the experience. We put the money that the picture made into a bank account for Honor to do whatever she wants to do with,” the Hollywood mama said of her daughter’s first photos, which she sold for $1.5 million. “It’s her picture, it’s her birth, and we didn’t want it to be like a weird thing when we were walking out of the house with her for the first time.”

New mother Beyoncé was reunited with Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams last week, according to reports.

The trio are said to have "held a singsong" for the 'Crazy In Love' star's newborn daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who is now just over two weeks old.

"They're still really close and the girls couldn't wait to see Blue," a source told The Sun. "They started a little singsong and it was just like old times. It was like they got back together."

Both Rowland and Williams are thought to have already met the tot prior to their singing session, with Williams saying the baby is "absolutely gorgeous".

She'd previously said on Twitter: "This is a beautiful, precious, private time between two people and excitement is to be expected but NOT disrespect!"

Jay-Z helped make Blue the youngest person to ever feature on the US charts, as his song 'Glory' included a recording of her crying.

Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed their first baby Saturday night in New York City, giving their daughter the name Blue Ivy Carter.

New auntie Solange Knowles and famous friends Rihanna, Diddy, Russell Simmons and Gwyneth Paltrow were among those tweeting their best wishes, with Rihanna dubbing the little girl "princess Carter" and Paltrow writing, "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already."

"The most beautiful girl in the world," Solange said on Twitter, adding later that "Information that goes through the telephone, always gets delivered wrong," likely a reference to early reports that the baby's name was Ivy Blue, rather than Blue Ivy.

Kourtney Kardashian and Snooki also got in on the party, with the latter dubbing Queen B a "sexpot" who deserved congrats for her "baby gurl," and the former invoking -- no lie -- Britney Spears.

Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) and Beyonce had reportedly arranged a private wing in Lenox Hill Hospital for the birth, which according to E! News sources was via scheduled C-section. She revealed the pregnancy in August onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards.

With a baby on the way, we already know that 2012 is going to be a year of immense change for Beyoncé, but when exactly her new life will start and the impact motherhood will have on her career have been the subject of much speculation. The 4 songstress has been tight-lipped about the arrival of her baby with husband Jay-Z, so MTV News sought the expertise of New York psychic Jesse Bravo to discover what the future holds for Queen Bey.

"I feel that Beyoncé's 2012 is going to be very, very exciting," Bravo told MTV News. "I get the date of January 8 to January 14 of her giving birth to her first son."

Mark your calendars: If Bravo is right, we're just days away from the birth of the baby one Beyoncé fan thinks is "probably gonna run New York City by the time he's 13 or 14." Bravo's belief that Beyoncé is having a boy also contradicts a statement made by her friend and former Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, who on a London red carpet in November told reporters, "I have no idea what I'm going to buy Beyoncé at the baby shower because Jay is going to buy that little girl every single thing possible. She won't be spoiled, but she will be very well looked-after."

"From what I hear, I know that the first child's name starts with a 'J,' " Bravo said. "I think it's like Jaylin or something like that that's going to be a tribute to her husband."

Bravo sees a lower-profile lifestyle in Beyoncé's future, telling MTV, "This baby's going to slow her down slightly." But the quiet life is something the workaholic star is going to enjoy because "when I start to get into her energy, she really is a big mother, she wants to be mommy."

But our girl B is a little nervous about the major changes coming her way, according to Bravo. "She's so excited and she's going to be a mommy and she's scared right now because she doesn't know how to be a mommy," he said. "So I can feel that fear of how to do things and wanting help."

Thing are going to work out just fine for Beyoncé, though, and our psychic believes the baby will be the first of many for hip-hop's royal couple. "Once she gets the hang of it, you know, I feel that she wants to have a lot more and she obviously has the world at her palm," Bravo said. "She can do whatever she wants."
